Manual Therapy (IASTM)

Manual Therapy is a tool used from the clinician to decrease pain and improve mobility, as well as improve neuromuscular activation. Manual Therapy can be applied either directly from the use of clinician hands, or from the use of tools used as an extension of the clinician titled “Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization” (IASTM). Both forms of Manual Therapy are used for the same outcomes, as well as have the same possible side effects. These possible side effects include mild bruising that could be present for a few days post treatment, or mild discomfort during application of intervention followed by alleviation of symptoms.

Corrective Exercise

Our Corrective exercises are movements that have a targeted and specific application to improve a movement pattern or area of the body that is at a deficiency. Whether it is mobility, strength, neuromuscular control, or a host of other areas of deficit corrective exercises improve the capacity of the tissue within our own bodies to then be more resilient and improve our ability to perform activities. Some possible side effects include mild soreness the next day after a session consistent with delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) that is routinely experiences after a weight lifting session.

Programming

Oftentimes programming and load application errors can be a significant source of pathology and suboptimal performance. Here at Diamond Performance PT and Athletic Training, every athlete is taken through a thorough evaluation of their current programming regarding strength and conditioning, as well as sport-related activities to create the most optimal environment for recovery and performance.

Cupping

Our Cupping is a technique within manual therapy that uses cups attached to the body with negative pressure to pull up all tissue underneath creating an environment that alters neural responses and improve mobility after use. This is used as a tool to improve an athletes mobility acutely, which is then implemented into further corrective exercises or performance based measures. Some athletes experience mild bruising of the area that can last a few days, and a feeling of stretching of the tissue underneath during application that should alleviate after use.

Strength & Conditioning

Many athletes know that they need to load and stress their body in order to make physical adaptations that improve performance. However, how that load is applied, how much of the load, and at what time in the athletic season are all variables that are often a mystery, or not commonly conveyed appropriately in the baseball community. With my experience as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist I will take the guess work off your plate and allow you to adapt appropriately. The side effects of this treatment include those that would be associated with standard weight lifting and conditioning. This includes but is not limited to delayed onset muscle soreness, and inherent risk of performing the activity of strength and conditioning.

Sport Implementation

The most important piece to an athlete is how does it translate to the sport? In the HumNow baseball and softball facility we have the equipment to answer that question immediately, implementing real sport movements within the treatment session to make sure that the variables effected make a meaningful difference to you. The side effects of this service includes the same risks that would be taken on during participation in the given sport.
